HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: 369 Vacancies

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released subject-wise recruitment advertisements (Advertisement Nos. 33/6-2026 to 55/6-2026) for the post of Assistant Professor (College Cadre) under the Department of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh. The drive covers 369 vacancies spread across 22 subjects including English, Hindi, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geography, History, Political Science, Commerce, Economics, Sociology, Physical Education, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Geology, and the fine arts streams of Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Dance, and Tabla. Selected candidates will initially be engaged as Job Trainees on a fixed monthly emolument of Rs. 35,000. Candidates applying must hold a Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC and PwBD candidates), along with a qualifying NET, SLET, or SET score; candidates holding a Ph.D. awarded as per applicable UGC regulations are exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirement. Age must fall between 18 and 45 years as reckoned from 1 January 2026, with standard age relaxation available for reserved categories. The prescribed application fee is Rs. 600 for all categories, payable online at the time of submission. Applications must be submitted online through the HPPSC One Time Registration (OTR) portal; no offline or physical applications will be accepted. Originally due to close on 14 July 2026, the deadline was extended following a large number of representations from prospective candidates, and online applications will now be accepted up to 15 August 2026 (11:59 PM). Selection will proceed through a screening Paper-I (100 marks, qualifying in nature covering HP General Knowledge, National and International Affairs, Hindi and English), followed by a subject-specific Paper-II (120 marks) held the same day, and a Personality Test (30 marks) at the Commission's office in Shimla. Final merit will be prepared on the combined marks of Paper-II and the Personality Test.
