India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: 23,757 Vacancies, Apply Online from 31 Aug

The Department of Posts has released the Schedule-II (July 2026) engagement notice for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), covering the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak across participating postal circles, with a combined 23,757 vacancies on offer. Candidates aged 18 to 40 years who have passed Class 10 with Mathematics and English as subjects, and who have studied the locally prescribed language up to the 10th standard, are eligible to apply. There is no written examination or interview for this recruitment — engagement is decided purely on a merit list prepared from candidates' Class 10 marks. Eligible candidates can register afresh and apply online through the official portal. The application fee is Rs. 100 for male General, OBC and EWS candidates, while women, SC/ST, PwBD and transwomen candidates are exempted from paying any fee. Aspirants should keep their Class 10 mark sheet, identity proof and category certificates (if applicable) ready before starting the online registration, and should apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute server load.
