Southern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 4,471 Posts, Apply by 27 Sept

Southern Railway, through the Office of the Chief Workshop Manager, Carriage & Wagon Works, Perambur, has invited online applications for engagement as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, vide Notification No. 01/2026. The recruitment covers various trades across divisions, workshops, and units under Southern Railway's jurisdiction. A total of 4,471 apprentice seats are on offer, split between Fresher and Ex-ITI categories — 163 for Freshers and 4,308 for candidates who have already completed an ITI course. Selection will be made purely on merit, based on marks scored in Matriculation and/or the ITI examination; there is no written test. Interested candidates can apply online from 28 August 2026 to 27 September 2026 through Southern Railway's official recruitment portal. Document verification for shortlisted candidates is tentatively scheduled from 15 October 2026. Since selection is merit-based with no interview or written exam, applicants should ensure their Matriculation and ITI mark sheets are accurate before submitting the form, as corrections after the deadline are typically not allowed.
