The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the official notification for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 on its website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. CLAT is the single national entrance exam for admission to undergraduate (BA LLB and other integrated law degrees) and postgraduate (LLM) programmes at 24-plus National Law Universities across India, and is also used by several other law schools and PSUs for recruitment/admission.
For the UG programme, candidates who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 (with the required minimum marks) are eligible; for the PG programme, an LLB degree or final-year law students can apply. The exam is conducted offline in pen-and-paper (OMR-based) mode across 130-plus cities in a single session, testing English, Current Affairs including GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.
Online registration opens on 3 August 2026 on the official portal, and the exam is scheduled for 6 December 2026, the first Sunday of the month, following the Consortium's usual annual pattern. After the exam, admission is offered through a centralised online counselling process based on the CLAT merit list, category-wise reservation, and university-wise seat matrix.
