Daily Current Affairs — 17 August 2026: RBI Loan-Pricing Rules, LPG Production Targets, FIH Hockey World Cup Wins & BRICS Environment Meet

The RBI issued a draft framework proposing that banks and NBFCs standardise floating-rate loan pricing through a board-approved policy, link floating personal and MSME loans to an external benchmark reset at least every three months, and obtain borrower consent before changing the benchmark; the rules are open for public comments until 11 September 2026 and are proposed to take effect from 1 April 2027.
